Drug Seizures Sketch
Although statistics on drug production, consumption, and abuse is avaiable from the United Nations, it does not come in the same form as the arms trade data, which specifically supplies a consumer/producer matrix. The drug flow relationship between countries is implicit in the production, consumption, and seizure statistics.
Using an achromatic layer, this image juxtaposes production and seizure data, and suggests flow which is only implicit in the data. Simultaneously, comparison across a time series is possible, and we can see in this illustration that while production in Bolivia and Peru is down from 1994-1995, Colombia's production increases. This illustration affords reading relationships between the change in production and seizures.
